ObamaCare: Socialism Against the Will of the People

Last night's vote to force health care "reform" on the American people was one of the most egregious examples in recent history of government of the career politicians, by the lobbyists, for the special interests. The majority of the American people clearly opposed this bill, but the Democrats ignored the will of the people in one of the largest federal power grabs in American history. Democratic leaders bought off some of their members by sending money to their states (the Landrieu "Louisiana Purchase") or exempting their states from paying what every other state pays (the Ben Nelson Nebraska Medicaid payoff).

Still lacking the votes, the Democrats resorted to legislative tricks to get a bill to President Obama while allowing Democratic House members to claim they didn't support the language in the Senate bill. In reality, the Senate bill becomes law, and the "fix-it" bill faces an uncertain future in the Senate. To eliminate opposition based on abortion funding, President Obama offered an executive order to block federal abortion funding, but he can rescind the order at any time. And the ObamaCare bill may supersede the executive order anyway.

ObamaCare is the product of payoffs, backroom deals, and legislative tricks--not the transparent process that President Obama promised. It will restrict health care choices, create scores of new bureaucracies, add trillions to our national debt, and lead to even more intrusive socialism and federal control of health care.

Repealing this socialist bill--in order to restore health care freedom, protect the lives of the unborn, and ensure that our seniors never face health care rationing--must be one of the top priorities of the next Congress, and it will be one of my highest priorities.

Sincerely,

Richard Cash
